In 2021, we embarked on a project to significantly reduce our emissions. As part of our sustainable strategy, our managing director set a target to be certified carbon neutral by April followed by achieving net zero direct emissions by 2030 or sooner.
Beesley Fuels is one of the first UK fuel suppliers to achieve carbon-neutral status under the PAS 2060 framework.
How have we done this?
To ensure we are on track to achieving this, we engaged with an external company to assist with the project and verify our emissions. By collaborating to form and implement a comprehensive carbon scheme, we were able to commit to becoming verified as a carbon-neutral business.
Becoming carbon neutral under the PAS 2060 framework involves:
- assessing greenhouse gas emissions based on accurate measurement data
- reducing emissions through a target-driven carbon management plan
- offsetting of excess emissions, often through carbon credits
- providing documentation and verification through qualifying explanatory statements and public disclosure
From April 2022, we are not only running our entire delivery fleet on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) but we are also offsetting our entire emissions.
